Plan this party for less!

  • SHOP AROUND: You can find lots of race card themed decor on Amazon, but you might be able to make it more affordable by shopping your local dollar stores or discount stores. Especially for the coloured tablecloths, plastic cups and plastic cutlery. Utilizing the dollar store for basic coloured cups/plates/cutlery is the best way to save your budget for the more fun themed decor.
  • DIY: Using dollar store items, I DIY’d the road table runner with construction paper and white masking tape – super easy! I also had the ability to make my own water bottle labels, colouring placemat and ‘Damian’ hot wheels sign.
  • PLAN EARLY: If you are able to plan ahead, you can save a lot of money by taking your time looking around for items and potentially getting things for sale. Also, sometimes certain items are seasonal and you can’t find them when you need them (happens to me all the time). Knowing when you buy can save you money from spending more from finding it online.

Party planning steps

Pick a Hot Wheels / racing color palette like red, orange, black, and yellow to guide the party.

Add the Fun

Set up a play area with tracks and toy cars so kids can race and play.

Set the Scene

Decorate with checkered flags, racing signs, and balloons to create a fun racetrack vibe.

Style the Table

Use themed plates, napkins, and a few fun details to tie the party together.

Prep the Food

Serve simple kid-friendly foods and snacks. Bonus points if you give the food fun racing-themed names.

Celebrate

Gather everyone for cake and candles to celebrate the birthday racer.
